Why We Love It
This collection of floral pressings in this Herbarium are from a young woman around 1896. Each flower has a paper ‘folder’: the front of the folder has a place to fill out the information about the specimen and the specimen resides inside the folder. Many of the plants are common and I’m inspired by their beauty shining through over 100 years later.
In this Herbarium, there were some moments marking the woman’s life, like ‘Edith’s Bouquet’ pressed flowers and ‘Papa’s Casket’ (Not for Sale). Moments of extreme happiness and extreme sadness, marked by her floral pressings.
Displaying these studies in nature as a work of art is classic. Buy a set of four, six or eight and hang in a grid.
