Why We Love It

The way we live with objects from the past enriches our life and interiors. We’re delighted to offer this sale of antique and vintage finds. Many of these objects reflect on what we use and how we decorate our own home, from how we set up tables for parties to objects of refinement. What we love so much about antique items is the human hand work of the craftspeople that made them. Between the artisan techniques and the age of the objects, there are imperfections and wear and tear.

• Description: This is a Buenilum Aluminum cocktail shaker. It is antique, ca 1947. Marked on the bottom is BW Buenilum, the BW stands for Frederic Buehner-Warner. Buehner studied with Kem Weber and Walter von Nessen under Bruno Paul at The Deutscher Werkbund Germany. The Deutscher Werkbund (German Work Federation) was a German association of architects, designers and industrialists who were an important precursor to the Bauhaus. It was founded in 1907 in Munich Frederic Buehner emigrated to the United States in 1929. In 1933 he registered "Buenilum," which is the mark on the base of the shaker.
